The Canadian Blood Services Production, Distribution and Testing Facility is a purpose-built hub that supports the collection, testing, processing, and distribution of lifesaving blood products across western Canada.

Challenge
As part of Canadian Blood Services’ National Facilities Redevelopment Program, the facility needed to accommodate a range of highly specialized functions while supporting the efficient processing and distribution of time-sensitive blood donations.
Solution
We designed the facility to integrate research laboratories, production areas, warehousing, and logistics-driven distribution spaces within a single purpose-built environment. The main floor housing laboratories and production areas is clad in precast concrete panels, while a two-storey glass entrance and administration area creates a welcoming presence for staff and visitors.
Outcome
As the second-largest blood processing and distribution centre of its kind, the facility supports Canadian Blood Services’ mission to deliver lifesaving blood products to patients and hospitals across western Canada. In compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, it provides a modern, high-performance environment for critical healthcare operations.
