As signatories of the SE 2050 Commitment, we join more than 130 firms working toward net zero embodied carbon for structural engineering components of a building by 2050.
Today, we released our fourth annual Embodied Carbon Action Plan in support of this commitment.
In 2024, our structural engineers focused on a small number of projects—piloting methodologies and building a strong foundation in embodied carbon reduction.
In 2025, we scaled those efforts, applying these strategies across 30 projects and integrating them into our standard practice.
The result: a 12% reduction in embodied carbon on projects where these measures were implemented, achieved through material substitution and design optimization. This result gave us confidence to set a target of a further 30% reduction by 2030.
This is measured progress—and we’re continuing to build on it.
